Barcelona Accommodation New Year's Eve

Weekend in Barcelona for New Year’s

If there is one night a year you’ll want to spend with your friends it is New Year’s Eve! And, what better place to celebrate together than one of the world’s most popular city break destinations, Barcelona?
With your own self catering apartment with a fully functional kitchen you and your  friends will have the choice of making your own private feast in the apartment or heading out to one of the city’s many wonderful restaurants and nightclubs!
To make the most of your New Year’s celebration in Barcelona you need to know where the best parties are, what restaurants to go to, basically where the fun is at! This guide will introduce you to some of the most exciting and special places to experience a New Year’s eve in Barcelona!
New Year's count-down spots:

Curiously for a city that normally needs “no excuse” to celebrate with fireworks there is no central fireworks organized. There will, however, be no lack of celebrations and general good spirits! Where to gather:
Plaza Catalunya
The center square in Barcelona. It is bound to packed, so this is only for those who don’t mind intimate moments with strangers in public locations! Bring twelve grapes and eat one for every toll of the bell!
The Beaches
The city beaches are always a good choice for celebratory events in Barcelona! Plenty of room for large crowds, nice views of the city and no shortage of bars and restaurants.

Restaurant Recommendations:
Naturally for the last day of the year you’ll need to make a reservation, and make it well in advance!

Here you find our recommendations for the following weekend:

Concert
07.05

Cesaria Evora and Mine!
We might have used the word "legend" once or twice in our blog, but in the case of the queen of morna it is most pertinent! For those not familiar with the term morna, it is the Fado-type music of Evora's native Capo Verde. She has one of the most recognizable voices on the planet, and a personal favorite for its naturalness and depth. The Palau is naturally a perfect setting for Evora's "regal appearance" - an evening most warmly recommended!
Place: Palau de la Música Time: 21h Price: 25 - 54€

11/05
Rufus Wainwright
Rufus might come from one of the planet's most famous music families, son of Loudon Wainwright III and the late Kate McGarrigle and brother of Martha, but he has certainly made his own mark. A singular voice, and ambitions beyond the scope of most singer-songwriters has made him a critical favorite and earned him a loyal following. He is visiting the Liceu Opera, not with his  ongoing opera project, but promoting his latest album, 'All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu'.
Place: Gran Teatre Liceu Time:21h Price: 15 - 65€

Maceo Parker at the Palau de la Música. Maceo Parker's seat in the Pantheon of "rhythmical music" deities was secured in the 60s when James Brown would shout: "MMMMaceo!" every time a song needed an injection of high-octane sax improvising. After having served in the funkiest band known to mankind Maceo always brings down the house with his own "troops." This time with a jazzier tinge to his groove as his latest disc "Rootes & Grooves" is a tribute to another late legend Ray Charles.

In Concert/In da Club

Thursday 18th: Jeff Mills - Detroit equals techno in many a music-lover's (and clubber's) mind, and the name Jeff Mills is synonymous with Detroit techno. Friday 12th; Nitzer Ebb and Recoil - Personally we are more exited by the "warm-up act" Recoil - ex. Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder's  project. But fans of dark, industrial electronica should enjoy veteran headliner Nitzer Ebb's take an the darker side of electronic rock.
